Hezbollah Launches Missile Barrage on Israeli Air Base in Retaliation for Deadly Strike
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement fired rockets at an Israeli military base near Safed, northern Israel, in response to an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon that killed three people, including a child.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah fired a barrage of Katyusha rockets at an Israeli air base in northern Israel on Friday.
According to the resistance group, the target was the “main missile air defense base” of Israel’s Northern Command, located at the Berea barracks near Safed, about 12 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
The attack triggered fires and widespread power outages, according to local reports.
Israel’s military claimed around 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon, stating that most were intercepted.
This marks the second attack on the Berea barracks since October, when hostilities between Hezbollah and occupying regime escalated following the outbreak of the Gaza war.
Hezbollah stated the strike was in retaliation for an Israeli attack in Kfar Jouz, southern Lebanon, on Thursday.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that the Israeli strike killed three people, including a child, and injured three others.
A source close to Hezbollah confirmed that one of the victims was a Hezbollah fighter.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the Israeli strike hit two motorcycles on the Nabatieh-Kfar Jouz road and damaged a passing car.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border attacks since early October, shortly after Israel began its military operation in Gaza.
Hezbollah has vowed to continue retaliatory strikes as long as Israeli attacks on Gaza persist.
Israel launched its genocidal military campaign on Gaza on October 7, following an attack by Hamas in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
The Tel Aviv regime has since imposed a full siege on Gaza, cutting off essential supplies to the more than two million residents.
Since the start of the offensive, Israeli forces have killed 41,118 Palestinians and injured nearly 95,125 others.
