TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The director general of the West Asia Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said that the country’s export of non-oil goods to the Sultanate of Oman registered a 35% growth in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2024).

Abdolamir Rabihavi referred to the importance of the development of trade-economic cooperation with Oman and noted that the issue of launching a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) was raised between the Iranian and Omani officials last year.

According to him, if the PTA is launched between Tehran and Muscat, suitable ways will be provided for boosting trade between the two countries, ISNA reported.

Oman is an important trade partner among Iran’s neighbors and according to the available statistics, Iran’s export of goods to Oman in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to August 22, 2024) registered a 35 percent growth compared to the same period last year, he stated.

He also said that inking PTAs and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with other countries will boost foreign trade considerably.
