Iran’s Non-Oil Exports to Brazil Hit $163 Million in 5 Months: TPOI

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said that $163 million of non-oil goods were exported from the country to Brazil in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2024).

Economy

The country’s export of non-oil products to Brazil from March 21 to August 21, 2024 registered a 2.5-fold growth compared to last year’s corresponding period, the director general of European and American Office of the TPOI said.

Ahmad Firouzi noted that $63 million of non-oil goods had been exported from Iran to Brazil in 2023.

He emphasized the need to facilitate exports to the BRICS member states and remove the export barriers.

Turning to Iran’s membership at BRICS group of the emerging economies, Firouzi said that in the 15th edition of BRICS Summit, which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on August 2023 with the participation of representatives and leaders of BRICS members i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, Islamic Republic of Iran was invited to join the bloc and Iran’s full membership in the BRICS group of the emerging economies was materialized in January 2024, IRNA reported.

Dealing with sanctions is the most important advantage of Iran’s membership in BRICS, he said, adding that strengthening financial and economic cooperation, accessing the new development bank, concluding bilateral and multilateral trade and business contracts with BRICS member states and taking advantage of the investment opportunities are among the advantages of joining the bloc.

Firouzi called on responsible officials to devise a comprehensive roadmap in line with strengthening and ramping up business relations with the BRICS member states optimally.
