Iran, Saudi Arabia Coordinate Efforts for Regional Security

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior diplomats from Iran and Saudi Arabia weighed plans for mutual and multilateral cooperation to ensure peace and security in the region as the Israeli regime continues to take lives in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan held a meeting in Riyadh on Wednesday.

In the gathering, Araqchi reiterated Iran’s firm policy to continue expanding relations with neighboring countries to strengthen regional security, stability, and prosperity, and to increase economic cooperation with the regional states.

He also emphasized the need for the implementation of previous agreements between Tehran and Riyadh.

The Saudi foreign minister, in turn, reaffirmed his country's determination to continue the path of the past year in strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted the importance of maintaining cooperation and coordination on various issues between the two countries.

In another part of the meeting, Araqchi referred to his visits to Lebanon and Syria, stressing the need for an immediate halt to the Zionist regime's military attacks on Gaza and Lebanon to prevent further escalation and widespread conflict in the region, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He called for the mobilization of all political resources and capacities of the regional countries to stop the slaughter of innocent people and the destruction of Gaza and Lebanon's infrastructure.

For his part, the Saudi minister reiterated the shared goal of both countries in preserving regional stability and security and expressed Saudi Arabia's readiness to cooperate in achieving this objective.
