Iranian Diplomat, OIC Chief Discuss Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha talked about the latest developments in Palestine and Lebanon against a backdrop of the Israeli regime’s onslaughts.

The two officials met on the sidelines of a joint meeting of the OIC and the Arab League foreign ministers, held in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday.

The Iranian diplomat underscored the importance of implementing and following up on the resolutions passed by Islamic and Arab leaders as well as by the OIC secretary general and Secretariat.

He also highlighted a series of initiatives proposed by the OIC member states, including expelling the Zionist regime from the UN General Assembly and its affiliated institutions, imposing an arms embargo on the Zionist regime, and re-establishing the Apartheid Committee based on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Gharibabadi also called for the initiatives to be prioritized and executed by the OIC Secretariat.

The OIC secretary general, for his part, acknowledged Iran's role as one of the most influential and important member states and reiterated the Secretariat's commitment to pursuing the organization's resolutions.
