Yemeni Forces Target Israel-Bound Ship in Red Sea in Support of Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen’s armed forces have launched a missile attack on a ship in the Red Sea, intensifying their campaign against Israeli-linked interests in response to the regime’s military aggressions in Gaza and Lebanon, according to an official statement.

The Yemeni armed forces struck the vessel “Anadolu S” with ballistic and naval missiles in the Red Sea, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen’s forces, said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The hit was accurate and direct,” Saree declared, emphasizing that the operation followed warnings issued by Yemeni naval forces, which the ship failed to heed.

Saree added that the vessel was targeted due to its affiliation with a shipping company that violated Yemen’s declared ban on entry into ports associated with occupied Palestine.

He reiterated that Yemen would sustain its operations against Israeli-linked targets until the Tel Aviv regime ends its military campaign in Gaza, lifts the siege on the enclave, and ceases aggression in Lebanon.

Yemeni forces have conducted numerous strikes on Israeli targets in the occupied Palestinian territories since the onset of Israel’s October 2023 offensive, which has involved extensive bombing in Gaza and escalations in Lebanon.

The Israeli genocidal war has resulted in the deaths of over 43,900 Palestinians—most of them women and children—and more than 3,500 Lebanese civilians.

In addition to targeting Israeli ships, Yemeni forces have also attacked vessels heading to or from the occupied territories as part of an effort to increase economic pressure on Israel.
