TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Navy is going to take delivery of a number of new homegrown submarines, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Rear Admiral Irani said the Navy has formulated plans to update and modernize its vessels and improve its submarine fleet’s capabilities.

He said the Navy is now manufacturing a number of new submarines that will be soon brought to service.

The commander also unveiled plans to strengthen Iran’s naval fleets in the oceans to meet demands in all fields.

Hailing the missile power of the Navy, the commander said his forces have missiles with a range of over 1,000 kilometers, adding that the Iranian Navy has also enhanced its electronic warfare capabilities.

Admiral Irani stated that the Navy has begun to build vessels heavier than the Mowj-class ones, saying two such military ships are being manufactured.

The Iranian Navy is playing an active role in the multipolar order of today’s world with the discourse of resistance and the slogan of peace and friendship, he stated, adding, “The enemies must bear in mind that Iran will never be isolated.”
