Yemenis Rally in Solidarity with Palestinians amid Ongoing Gaza Crisis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thousands of Yemenis staged rallies across the country on Friday afternoon, voicing support for Palestinians and condemning the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Demonstrators gathered in the capital Sana’a and provinces including Sa’ada, Hudaydah, Hajjah, and Ibb, carrying Yemeni and Palestinian flags while chanting slogans in solidarity with Gaza. Participants praised the resilience of Palestinian resistance fighters and condemned the genocidal violence by Israel.

Protesters also expressed support for recent military operations by Yemeni and Iraqi fighters targeting Israeli positions, which Yemen's armed forces confirmed as part of efforts to oppose violence in Gaza.

A statement from organizers criticized the silence of Arab and international leaders regarding the humanitarian crisis, urging nations to fulfill moral and religious responsibilities to the Palestinian people. The statement also condemned Arab regimes that continue to supply Israel with goods amid the blockade of Gaza, where severe shortages of food and medicine persist.

According to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics, exports from Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan to Israel have increased this year.

Protesters dismissed threats from US President-elect Donald Trump, who recently warned of severe consequences if Hamas does not release captives before his inauguration in January 2025. Yemenis at the rallies reaffirmed their commitment to resisting US and Israeli policies.

The protests also criticized foreign-backed militants in Syria, labeling their offensive a retaliation against nations supporting the Palestinian cause.

Yemenis have held weekly demonstrations against Israel’s crimes since the war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023. The Israeli brutal war has resulted in over 44,600 Palestinian deaths, with thousands more injured or missing under the rubble.
