Turkey's Erdoğan Emphasizes Preservation of Syria's Territorial Integrity

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underscored the necessity of maintaining Syria's territorial integrity following the swift downfall of Bashar al-Assad's government.

World

In a statement from Ankara, Erdoğan declared, "Neither the PKK and its extensions in Syria nor Daesh/ISIS are our country's interlocutors, but rather its enemies. Syria's territorial integrity must absolutely be protected." He highlighted the threats posed by terrorist groups exploiting Syria's instability, particularly along Turkey's borders.

He emphasized Turkey's commitment to Syria's well-being, driven by conscience rather than self-interest.

Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey's dedication to Syria's territorial integrity and the pursuit of peace through consensus aligned with the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people. He envisioned a Syria where all citizens—Arabs, Turkmens, Kurds, Sunnis, Alawites, and Christians—coexist peacefully.

He reiterated that Turkey harbors no territorial ambitions, asserting that its cross-border operations solely aim to safeguard national security
