In a telephone conversation on Monday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar talked about the latest developments in Syria.

They also reviewed the trend of relations between Tehran and Islamabad.

After storming Damascus on December 8, the Syrian opposition fighters declared that they have toppled the government of Bashar al-Assad, who has defected to Russia.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed Tehran’s policy of respecting Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and national sovereignty, stressing that only Syrians can decide the future of their country.
