Israel Issues Evacuation Order for Palestinians in Maghazi Camp Again

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israel issued an evacuation order for Palestinians in a section of Gaza’s Maghazi refugee camp on Wednesday, following claims that rockets were launched from the area amid ongoing bombardments.

The Israeli military ordered residents to evacuate a five-block area in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, citing the launch of four rockets toward Israel.

The evacuation threat comes amid Israel’s continued military offensive in Gaza, which has stretched beyond 14 months and killed more than 44,805 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught in Gaza continues even as a ceasefire with Lebanon’s Hezbollah was agreed last month and attention shifted to the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by opposition fighters.

Ceasefire talks are set to resume in Cairo, though previous negotiations have repeatedly stalled.

Meanwhile, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly passed resolutions on Wednesday demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and expressing support for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), which Israel has sought to ban.

The resolutions, while not legally binding, carry significant political weight.

The ceasefire vote saw 158 nations in favor, with 13 abstentions, while Israel, its close ally the United States, and seven other nations voted against.

Both the current and incoming US administrations have indicated hopes of ending the war before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
