Efforts Focused on Affordable Housing: Iranian President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need for plans to settle the housing problems faced by the low-income groups of the society.
President Pezeshkian on Monday chaired the first meeting of the Supreme Housing Council under his administration after taking office in late July.
The administration is determined to resolve the housing problems, he said after receiving reports from different bodies about the issues hindering housing plans, his official website reported.
“Today, we must use all governmental and non-governmental capacities to resolve the remaining housing issues faced by people. The government's determination to address this issue is serious, and I urge all bodies to cooperate with each other to find practical solutions with the shortest possible time and present final results,” Pezeshkian added.
As part of efforts to address housing issues, the president urged the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Interior Ministry to form a joint working group and use capacities of governor generals in all provinces to prepare the most operational plans for renovating dilapidated urban areas within a month.
Pezeshkian referred to construction rules, saying that some of them have created obstacles to build houses, which need to be reviewed by municipalities in cooperation with relevant bodies.
The president noted that some of the problems in the housing sector need to be resolved by taking into account the specific conditions of each province.
Therefore, the president added, subgroups should hold their own sessions with the presence of governor generals in order to precisely address the issues in each province.
