TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli troops killed Palestinian man in Jenin after raiding Maithalun, where clashes with Palestinian fighters broke out.

The raid, which also prompted confrontations with local fighters, led to at least one injury and further detentions across the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces shot and killed 40-year-old Hassan Ali Rabaya in the town of Maithalun, located south of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Earlier reports indicated that Israeli forces had wounded at least one person while conducting a raid in Maithalun. The raid triggered violent clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian fighters, with the Jenin Brigades confirming they were engaged in confrontations with Israeli forces in the area.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed the injuries, while Al Quds Today posted a video showing Israeli forces carrying a wounded individual on a stretcher into a truck. The video also indicated that the soldiers had arrested a man during the operation.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Shehab agency reported that Israeli forces had prevented a PRCS ambulance from reaching a house that was under siege in Maithalun.

In a separate incident in the West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers and set fire to a building near Ramallah, all while under the observation of the Israeli military, according to witnesses and the Wafa news agency.

Over the past 24 hours, Israeli forces detained at least 20 Palestinians, including children and former prisoners, according to a joint statement from the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society. Detentions occurred in several West Bank governorates, including Hebron (Al-Khalil), Bethlehem, Tulkarem, Jericho, Ramallah, and Jerusalem al-Quds.

The surge in detentions follows the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023.

In addition to Rabaya’s death, Israeli forces also detained individuals from various parts of the West Bank. Among those detained were two men from the Aqabat Jaber camp, south of Jericho, and five people from Hebron, including two brothers aged 17 and 18. The detentions also included a 14-year-old boy, Karam Saber al-Shaer, from Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem.

The body of Hassan Ali Rabaya remains in Israeli custody, according to Wafa.
