The president made the comment on Tuesday in a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, which focused on examining various aspects of artificial intelligence, the existing challenges, and the requirements for its development.

Referring to the intense competition among the global powers, the president said that any delay or backwardness in the development of AI in Iran would be damaging and irreparable.

“We need to carefully monitor the wave of developments and measures taken across the world on AI. At the next stage, we should deal with making polices, formulating laws, removing challenges and meeting requirements for (AI) development,”, the president added, his official website reported.

Pezeshkian also tasked the vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy with interacting with the AI specialists in the universities, research centers and Parliament to thoroughly complete the necessary studies on different dimensions of AI.
