Israeli Strikes Continue to Take High Children Toll in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli air and artillery strikes persist in Gaza, claiming the lives of about 70 children in northern Gaza over the past five days, according to local reports.
The Gaza Media Office reported that nearly 5,000 Palestinians have been killed or gone missing during the ongoing Israeli military campaign in northern Gaza over the past 100 days.
A medical source told Al Jazeera on Sunday that around 9,500 Palestinians have been injured since the Israeli offensive began in early October.
Gaza’s Government Media Office described the Israeli siege as “the most horrific form of ethnic cleansing, displacement, and destruction.”
Journalists on the ground have described northern Gaza as a “ghost area,” overwhelmed by destruction and debris.
“We are seeing Palestinians being systematically targeted in every single place across the Gaza Strip. It doesn’t matter where you are – if you’re in a school, a shelter, a makeshift camp, or even a hospital,” one reporter said.
Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement, stated that over the past 100 days, “The people of north Gaza have endured horrific scenes of killing, ethnic cleansing, destruction, and displacement.”
Hospitals have not been spared from the violence. Kamal Adwan Hospital was torched and destroyed by Israeli forces in late December as part of the siege.
In a strike on Sunday, at least five people were killed, and several others were injured when Israeli warplanes bombed a home in the al-Shuja’iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
An earlier attack near the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza claimed the life of at least one Palestinian. Israeli artillery also shelled multiple areas across Gaza, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties.
Israeli genocide in Gaza, which began in October 2023, have so far resulted in 46,565 deaths and over 109,000 injuries, according to reports.
