Iran-Russia Treaty A Road Map to Future of Ties: Pezeshkian
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty signed on January 17 as a road map to the future of relations between the two states.
“This agreement serves as a road map to the future of Iran-Russia relations, outlining the path ahead; thus, based on this, the framework for interactions has been established,” Pezeshkian said in a meeting with Russian economic players in Moscow on Friday evening.
The Iranian president expressed hope that “with the determination and will of both countries to implement today's agreement, we can broaden the agreements and fully implement the Comprehensive Partnership Treaty, ensuring that this agreement does not remain merely on paper.”
The Iranian government is determined to expand ties with Russia in economy and trade, he said, adding that Iran intends to cooperate in North-South and East-West corridors as well as in maritime and port sectors.
He noted that the academic, financial, industrial and trade teams can help achieve this goal, saying Tehran is serious to facilitate interactions and exchanges with Russia.
Pezeshkian described the cooperation between Iranian and Russian economic players and business people as a win-win activity, noting that the promotion of the level of interactions will disappoint the enemies who want to destabilize the region.
On the United States’ cruel sanctions on Iran, he noted, “We (Iran and Russia) have no choice but to keep relations. The US has sanctioned both countries and is seeking to expand unilateralism in the world. It is unacceptable that a power seeks to have dominance on other countries and impose sanctions on nations like Russia, Iran, and even China.”
If these nations have interaction, they can counter the sanctions due to their larger markets, Pezeshkian said, his official website reported.
In the meeting, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran, as well as the Iranian ministers of oil, economy, energy and agriculture elaborated on the opportunities for investment in Iran.
