Israeli Army Raid in Jenin Leaves Two Palestinians Dead, Dozens Wounded

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least two Palestinians have been killed and 25 others injured in an Israeli military operation in Jenin, a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials reported.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that two people had been killed and at least 25 wounded during the ongoing raid in the camp. The Israeli military claimed the operation was a "counterterrorism" mission but provided no further details.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli soldiers launched the assault from the Jalameh checkpoint following the infiltration of an Israeli special forces unit into the al-Jabariyat neighborhood. During the operation, drones bombed an empty vehicle near al-Zahraa School without causing injuries, while Apache helicopters hovered overhead and fired into the air.

Palestinian security forces had been conducting a weeks-long campaign in Jenin to reassert authority over the city, which is home to several armed groups.

The Times of Israel, citing a military source, reported that the operation, dubbed “The Iron Wall,” is expected to continue for several days, involving extensive troops, intelligence personnel, and special forces.

Elsewhere in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have arrested 18 Palestinians during raids on towns, including Idhna, Shuweika, Allar, and Sidon, Wafa said. In Idhna, five of those detained were reportedly from the same family.

Movement restrictions have also been reinforced, causing significant delays at checkpoints.

In Beit Furik, east of Nablus, Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians after storming at least 15 homes, Wafa added.

Hamas condemned the latest escalation, urging Palestinians to resist settler and military violence. "The rise in settler terrorism necessitates a unified wave of resistance," the resistance group stated, asserting that these actions would not deter Palestinians from defending their land and rights.

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) expressed alarm over escalating violence by settlers and Israeli security forces. In a statement, the office highlighted attacks on Palestinian villages, widespread movement restrictions, and plans for expanded military operations in the West Bank.

The developments come amid heightened Israeli violence following the recent ceasefire in Gaza, which has seen a surge in arrests, military raids, and settler-led violence across the occupied territories.
