Two Palestinians Killed in Israeli Raid near Jenin amid Ongoing West Bank Raids
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces killed two Palestinians during a raid in a town near Jenin, the latest escalation in the occupied West Bank where a major military offensive is underway.
The Resistance News Network on Thursday identified the victims as Mohammed Nazzal, a member of the Saraya al-Quds Brigades, and Qutaiba al-Shalabi, a commander with the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.
The two resistance fighters "ascended to martyrdom after engaging in fierce clashes for hours against the Israeli forces that had besieged them in a house," the report said.
The pair were reportedly involved in a "heroic al-Funduq operation" that killed three Israelis and wounded eight others in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli soldiers reportedly took custody of the bodies of the two fighters after fatally wounding them, the report added.
Separately, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA stated that the fighters were from Qabatiya but were killed in a house in Burqin, near Jenin, on Wednesday evening.
According to WAFA, Shalabi, 30, and Nazzal, 25, were killed after Israeli drone strikes targeted the house they were in.
"The occupation forces demolished the besieged house and razed it to the ground using a heavy bulldozer," the report said.
In another development, Hamas condemned the Palestinian Authority for blockading Razi Hospital in Jenin and arresting wounded Palestinian fighters. The group called the actions a violation of "red lines and national ethics."
The latest raid near Jenin adds to ongoing violence in the occupied territories. Israeli forces have conducted repeated raids in the West Bank, further escalating since the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza intensified on October 7, 2023.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli military operations have killed at least 859 Palestinians and injured over 6,700 in the West Bank since then.
