Iran Condemns US Blacklisting of Houthis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson condemned the incoming US administration’s unjustified decision to redesignate Yemen’s Houthi forces as a “foreign terrorist organization”.

Politics

In a statement released on Thursday, Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the US State Department’s decision to place Ansarullah on its so-called list of foreign terrorist organizations, saying such move is aimed at justifying inhumane sanctions against the Yemeni nation.

He described this action as baseless, unjustified, and in clear violation of the international law, according to the ministry’s website.

Baqaei highlighted the honorable solidarity of the Yemeni people with the oppressed Palestinians in their struggle against the Israeli occupation and genocidal crimes.

He further characterized the US State Department’s labeling of the Yemeni people as a continuation of the previous US administration’s 15-month complicity in the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza.

Baqaei noted that such unilateral, arbitrary, and unfounded actions only serve to further undermine the rule of law in the international relations and pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
