The spokesperson for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said his colleagues, the members of the Parliament’s Legal and Judicial Commission, the Iranian Judiciary’s deputy chief, the representatives of the Intelligence Ministry and the intelligence departments of the Police and the IRGC held a joint meeting on Sunday to delve into the assassination of Ali Razini and Mohammad Moqiseh, the two judges shot dead at a court in Tehran on January 18.

Ebrahim Rezaei said it has become clear that the assassin, 31, was a catering staff member who had a history of violence, perversity and improvidence.

He used a Turkish-made handgun to assassinate the judges, and had probably received training, the lawmaker said.

Rezaei also ruled out the possibility of personal motives behind the assassination, saying the attack was related to the issue of “hypocrisy”, a term used in Iran to describe the policies of the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO).
