Iran Warns UK Not to Escalate Tensions in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian foreign minister cautioned Britain against the escalation of tensions in Yemen, warning that the consequences of military intervention in the Arab country would threaten regional security and stability.

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday,  Abbas Araqchi and his British counterpart David Lammy talked about bilateral issues, the nuclear negotiations, and the latest regional developments.

Araqchi outlined Iran's position on its peaceful nuclear activities, stressing that Tehran has always been ready for dialogue based on its principles and national interests.

Such an approach is not anything new and has been the basis for Iran’s past negotiations as well, he added.

The foreign minister also reiterated Tehran’s support for the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, stressing the need to stop the crimes and acts of aggression by the Zionist regime.

Araqchi also noted that Iran has always supported peace and stability in the region and will spare no effort to that end.

He then warned against the escalation of tensions in Yemen, saying the consequences of such acts will pose a threat to regional stability and security.

The two diplomats also discussed the latest state of bilateral relations and welcomed the recent positive developments, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Highlighting the importance of diplomatic consultations, they also talked about a series of consular issues.
