Iran Urges Employment of ECO Capacities to Boost Ties among Members

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran highlighted the potential of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) for the expansion of relations among its member states.

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev, who has visited Iran to attend a meeting of ECO, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran on Sunday.

The foreign minister pointed to the good and friendly relations between Iran and Kazakhstan, emphasizing the need to use the capacities of the two countries, including their private sectors, to expand relations in the economic and commercial fields.

Araqchi also highlighted the increasing importance of multilateral and regional arrangements for the purpose of promoting economic and commercial cooperation among the governments, calling on all ECO members to take advantage of the capacities of the organization to enhance their relations and exchanges.

The deputy foreign minister of Kazakhstan, for his part, stressed his country's commitment to the expansion of relations with Iran in various fields.

Bakayev expressed hope that the meeting would contribute to strengthening and expanding economic and trade ties among the ECO members.

He also appreciated Iran for hosting the ECO deputy foreign ministers' meeting.
