Asked by reporters about the US president’s push to prevent Iran’s access to nukes, Eslami said on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting in Tehran, “Iran has not sought, does not seek, and will not seek access to nuclear weapons.”
He underlined that Iran’s nuclear activities are in compliance with the Safeguards Agreement and the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty).
In comments in December 2024, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the country will maintain its peaceful nuclear activities on the basis of religious decrees and its national security doctrine.
The spokesman also lashed out at the US for playing a destructive role and making attempts to disrupt the process of interaction between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
