Iran, Holy See Discuss Promoting World Peace

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior diplomats from Iran and the Vatican stressed the need for collective efforts to promote peace and justice in the world.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State, held a telephone conversation on Friday.

They talked about the latest developments in the bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

Referring to the long-standing and good relations between Iran and the Vatican, Araqchi stressed the importance of the continuation of religious dialogue and consultations between the two sides, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He expressed hope that the interactions would lead to the strengthening of mutual understanding between the followers of religions and help promote peace and justice in the world based on the shared teachings of Abrahamic religions.

Gallagher, for his part, appreciated Iran’s constructive approach to maintaining and expanding interaction between the two countries.

He also stressed the need for all sides to make efforts to maintain peace and promote justice in the world.
