Iran Asks UN to Act Against US’ Gaza Plan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran called on the United Nations to take a decisive stance against the US’ “dangerous” plan for the Gaza Strip and its residents.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres talked about the regional developments, specifically Gaza.

The Iranian foreign minister condemned the American-Zionist plan for the forced displacement of people of Gaza and their relocation to other countries.

Araqchi stressed the need for the UN, particularly the Security Council, to take decisive and explicit stances against such dangerous conspiracy, which he said jeopardizes international peace and security.

He said the proposal for the forced relocation of Palestinians violates all rules and principles of the international law and the UN Charter, adding that it, in fact, complements the Zionist regime’s plans for genocide and erasure of Palestine.

Pointing to his intensive negotiations with the foreign ministers of the Islamic and Arab nations in recent days, Araqchi said the Muslim nations’ collective condemnation of the plan for the displacement of Gazans reflects the regional countries’ widespread concern about the continued and brazen violation of the rights of Palestinian people with a new method.

The Iranian minister also denounced the Israeli prime minister’s proposal to relocate Palestinians to Saudi Arabia as a blatant example of the Zionist regime’s rude approach. He emphasized that the international community must prevent the normalization of the Israeli regime’s law-breaking and criminal activities.

For his part, Guterres reiterated the UN’s opposition to any plan for the forced relocation of Palestinians, stressed the need to respect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation, and dismissed as unacceptable the displacement of people of Gaza.

The UN chief also highlighted the necessity for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aids to the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of the enclave.
