Iranian Envoy Highlights Regional Impact of Strong Iran-Turkey Relations
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Turkey emphasized that the long-standing relations between Tehran and Ankara serve as a foundation for regional stability, calling for deeper economic and political cooperation.
Iran's Embassy in Turkey held a ceremony on Monday, February 12, to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and Iran's National Day, which was attended by Iran's Ambassador to Turkey, Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, and Turkey's Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan.
A large number of officials, political figures, party representatives, Turkish parliament members, ambassadors, diplomats, military attachés, media representatives, academics, and Iranian expatriates participated in the event, underscoring the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During his speech, Habibollahzadeh marked the anniversary of Iran’s Islamic revolution and highlighted the historical and cultural ties between Iran and Turkey. He stated, “The deep-rooted relationship between the two neighboring nations has been built on peace, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and dialogue for over five centuries, making it a model of enduring cooperation in the region.”
He further emphasized Iran’s foreign policy priority of strengthening ties with its neighbors, particularly Turkey, noting that expanding bilateral cooperation could serve as an inspiration for promoting peace, stability, and development in the region. The ambassador also pointed to the growing economic and trade relations between Tehran and Ankara, stressing the need to capitalize on existing opportunities for the benefit of both nations.
Representing the Turkish government, Minister Vedat Işıkhan also extended his congratulations on Iran’s National Day. He highlighted the historical depth of Iran-Turkey relations, saying, “Iran and Turkey are not only geographically close but have also been interconnected throughout history in trade, culture, and society.”
He described the Iran-Turkey border as a long-standing symbol of friendship and brotherhood, stating, “Iran serves as Turkey’s gateway to the East, while Turkey is Iran’s gateway to the West.” He further underscored that strong relations and close dialogue between the two countries benefit their respective regions, the Muslim world, and even the broader international community.
Işıkhan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and mutual investments while also placing significant importance on cultural exchanges. In this regard, he announced that 2025 has been designated as the “Year of Iran-Turkey Cultural Exchanges.”
He also referred to mechanisms for enhancing bilateral ties, including the High-Level Cooperation Council and the 29th Joint Economic Commission meeting, which focus on deepening economic collaboration and boosting border trade.
Additionally, he revealed that Turkey and Iran are preparing a cooperation agreement in the fields of labor, employment, and social security, which is set to be signed during the ninth session of the High-Level Cooperation Council.
On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition showcasing Iran’s historical attractions was held, along with the screening of cultural videos for attendees.
