President: Iran Resolved to Broaden Ties with Turkmenistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed the country’s determination to strengthen relations with its neighbors, particularly with Turkmenistan.

In a meeting with Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, held in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian reaffirmed that Iran’s principled policy is rooted in good neighborliness and aimed at enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan in various sectors.

Pezeshkian also mentioned his recent phone call with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the National Leader of Turkmen people, during which they discussed the need to review opportunities for collaboration and to eliminate obstacles hindering the implementation of joint projects.

Regarding the next summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states in Tehran, Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s desire to foster interactions among these nations based on principles of peace, friendship and good neighborliness. He indicated that this perspective would be a focal point of discussion at the summit, his official website reported.

For his part, Meredov conveyed warm greetings from Turkmenistan’s national leader and president, advocating for the development of joint ventures in various fields, including transportation.

He further highlighted the importance of the joint economic commission between the two countries, expressing hope that their upcoming meeting would enhance bilateral economic ties.

The Turkmen minister extended an invitation to the Iranian president to take part in the International Peace and Trust Conference in Turkmenistan, noting that a high-ranking delegation from Turkmenistan would attend the Caspian Sea littoral states’ summit in Tehran.
