Hezbollah Condemns Israeli Threats Over Iranian Plane's Landing in Beirut
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Hezbollah issued a statement on Thursday after an Iranian plane was prevented from landing at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport due to threats from Israel, leaving several Lebanese citizens stranded in Tehran.
Hezbollah's media office expressed concern over the situation, condemning the actions that led to Lebanese citizens being stuck abroad.
The incident occurred after Israeli military threatened to target the Iranian aircraft, which was supposed to bring Lebanese passengers back from Tehran.
Ibrahim Al-Mousawi, a member of the Lebanese Parliament, condemned Israel's actions, stating, "The Zionist enemy's insistence on violating Lebanon's sovereignty, supported by the international community, especially the United States, encourages further aggression."
He called on all Lebanese citizens to denounce these actions and urged international organizations to take responsibility to prevent Israeli attacks on Rafic Hariri International Airport.
Mousawi emphasized that the Lebanese government must fulfill its duties to safeguard the country's sovereignty and ensure the return of its citizens.
He stated, "Under no circumstances should Lebanon yield to Israeli threats."
He also urged the public to maintain calm and express their opposition peacefully and responsibly.
Meanwhile, Lebanese citizens protested against the decision to block the plane's landing.
They gathered near the airport, chanting anti-US and Israeli slogans, including "America cannot rule us."
Local reports confirmed that Rafic Hariri Airport authorities denied landing permission for the Tehran-Beirut flight.
Videos shared on social media showed increasing numbers of demonstrators blocking the road leading to the airport in protest.
