Israel Conducts Fresh Drone Strike on Jenin Refugee Camp
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Israel carried out a drone attack on the Jenin refugee camp early Friday, as the Palestinian foreign ministry called on the international community to take decisive action to halt intensified Israeli aggression in the occupied West Bank.
An Israeli drone targeted residential areas in the Jenin refugee camp, located in the northern West Bank, according to media reports.
Since a ceasefire in Gaza was declared last month, Israel has escalated its operations in Jenin and other parts of the West Bank.
At least 25 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli raids on Jenin this year, displacing nearly 20,000 people, according to the camp’s media committee.
In Tulkarm, Israeli forces continue to demolish homes and infrastructure.
The Tulkarm Camp’s Media Committee reported that nine people have been killed, and about 10,500 residents—around 80% of the camp's population—have been displaced since the start of the Israeli assault.
Video footage from Thursday showed Israeli bulldozers demolishing homes in the Nour Shams Refugee Camp in Tulkarm.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) stated that at least 380 people have been detained by Israeli forces since the large-scale military raids began in the West Bank after the Gaza ceasefire took effect on January 19.
The deal between Israel and Hamas was reached after 15 months of the regime's genocidal war on the strip, which claimed the lives of at least 48,239 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 111,676 others.
Israel agreed to the ceasefire after failing to achieve its objectives, including the release of captives, the neutralization of Gaza’s resistance, and the displacement of Gaza's population to Egypt or Jordan.
The Palestinian foreign ministry on Thursday urged the international community to take “urgent and effective action” to pressure Israel into halting its aggression in the West Bank.
The ministry stated that international silence emboldens Israel to continue its crimes, including the forced displacement of Palestinians and the destruction of homes and infrastructure, which it described as part of an ongoing policy of ethnic cleansing.
