Araqchi said on Tuesday that the Qatari emir will travel to Iran to promote relations between the two countries.
Dismissing rumors that the Qatari leader may be relaying a message from the US, the Iranian foreign minister said such media stories do not merit a response.
“The emir of Qatar is a prominent figure and will be visiting (Iran) for the advancement of bilateral relations. God willing, we will keep to this successful path to the bilateral ties,” he noted.
Hailing Qatar as an influential country in the Persian Gulf region and highlighting the age-old and broad relations between Tehran and Doha, Araqchi said the two countries are involved in significant talks in the strategic, political and economic fields.
He noted that the two nations are also in touch over regional developments, specifically the issue of Palestine, and the recent plots hatched against Gaza, Hamas, Syria and Yemen.
Iran and Qatar are also engaged in important and key consultations about economic affairs that will be discussed during the Qatari emir’s forthcoming visit, Araqchi stated.
