Omission of Iran from Regional Arrangements A Nonstarter: Araqchi
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Plans for Iran’s exclusion from regional arrangements have ended in failure, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.
Addressing the 8th edition of the conference on the history of Iran’s foreign relations, held in Tehran on Tuesday, Araqchi highlighted the failure of the plots to exclude Iran from regional arrangements.
“Not only has the policy of Iran’s omission from the regional arrangements ended in failure, but also the Persian Gulf is entering a new era thanks to Iran’s active diplomacy and neighbor-based foreign policy,” the minister added.
Stressing the need to maintain consensus among the regional countries, Araqchi said, “Everybody should bear in mind that sustainable security won’t materialize without security for all. Security of the Persian Gulf is an integrated concept and all countries should benefit from it, otherwise, there will be no security for anyone.”
He also highlighted Iran’s role in protecting regional peace and stability, adding, “Iran has put the strategy of provision of maximum homegrown security on agenda, which has ensured maritime security in the Persian Gulf.”
The Iranian foreign minister also denounced the attempts by certain external powers to foment crises and conflicts in the Persian Gulf, saying the outsiders have tried for decades to jeopardize peaceful coexistence among the regional people by sending arms to the region.
