Hezbollah Alive, Araqchi Says in Visit to Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi described the funeral of late leaders of Hezbollah, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and Seyed Hashem Safieddine, as proof that Hezbollah and resistance are alive.

Araqchi arrived in Beirut on Sunday morning to take part in the funeral of the two late leaders of Hezbollah.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, the Iranian foreign minister said the funeral service indicates that the resistance and Hezbollah are alive and pursuing their goals and that the course of struggle will continue.

As the resistance has gained numerous victories so far, it will win the final victory by God’s grace, he noted.

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has also traveled to Lebanon to attend the funeral.

Lebanon is preparing for the burial of former Hezbollah leader Nasrallah, nearly five months after he was martyred in an Israeli air strike.

The country is expected to come to a halt for a few hours on Sunday for the funeral, which is scheduled for 1 pm (11:00 GMT) at the Camille Chamoun sports stadium on the outskirts of Beirut.

He will then be buried at a dedicated site nearby.

Nasrallah was martyred on September 27 in an Israeli air strike as he met commanders in a bunker in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The funeral also honors Hashem Safieddine, who led Hezbollah for one week after Nasrallah’s death before he was also martyred in an Israeli attack.

He will be buried separately in the south on Monday.
