Iran, Russia’s Top Diplomats Meet in Tehran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Russia held talks at a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, February 25.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Tehran on Tuesday and held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has announced in a statement that Lavrov’s working visit to Tehran would include discussions on the bilateral agenda of Russian-Iranian relations, which formally attained the status of a comprehensive strategic partnership following the signing of a new framework interstate treaty in Moscow on January 17.
Particular emphasis during the negotiations will be placed on further enhancing constructive trade and economic cooperation, particularly through the implementation of key joint projects in energy and transport, the statement said.
The parties will exchange views on pressing international matters, including developments in Syria, the South Caucasus, Afghanistan, Yemen, the Persian Gulf region, the Middle East settlement process, Caspian-related issues, and the situation surrounding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, it added.
