In a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, held in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian underscored the importance of maintaining constructive interactions between the two countries on both regional and international stages.
He noted that Iran and Russia have significant potential for increasing cooperation through regional and international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and the BRICS group.
In response, Lavrov conveyed warm greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Pezeshkian. He affirmed that Moscow is committed to continuing collaboration and expediting the implementation of the Treaty on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Iran and Russia.
The Russian foreign minister highlighted Iran's full membership in the EAEU as a new and effective opportunity for strengthening economic and trade ties between Tehran and Moscow, noting that both nations stand to gain from their cooperation in the regional matters.
