MSF Condemns Shooting near Rafah Clinic as ‘Unacceptable’
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has denounced a shooting near the al-Shaboura clinic in Rafah, southern Gaza, calling the incident a threat to the safety of patients and staff.
The medical aid organization said a Palestinian man was shot next to the clinic’s entrance, while a burst of gunfire forced healthcare workers to seek shelter inside the facility on Sunday.
“While we can’t confirm the source of these bullets, shots fired from the southern Israeli-controlled buffer zone are increasingly common and cost lives, despite the ceasefire,” said Myriam Laaroussi, MSF’s emergency coordinator.
“This incident is unacceptable. It jeopardised the lives of our patients and staff,” she added.
Israeli fire killed at least two people in Rafah and wounded three others in Khan Younis in the south of Gaza, raising fears among Palestinians that the ceasefire could collapse altogether after Israel imposed a total blockade on the shattered enclave.
