Iran Urges Regional Vigilance Against US Provocations in Call with Iraqi FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, in a phone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, condemned US pressure tactics against Tehran and urged neighboring countries to remain cautious of Washington’s divisive actions.

The two diplomats discussed the latest regional developments and exchanged views on the situation following Israel’s renewed violent attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as US military strikes in Yemen.

Araqchi strongly condemned Israel’s continued genocidal assaults on Gaza and repeated violations against Lebanon, carried out with “the blatant US support” as he described it. He denounced the killing of innocent women and children and called for immediate international action, particularly from regional and Islamic nations, to halt these criminal aggressions and prevent further instability in the entire region.

He also warned of the serious risks posed by the US military’s use of regional airspace and bases for hostile actions against the nations in the region. Stressing the need to uphold national sovereignty, he urged all regional countries to take necessary measures to prevent foreign forces from using their territories to destabilize others.

Addressing US illegal sanctions on Iran’s oil industry, Araqchi dismissed Washington’s allegations against Tehran as baseless, stating they serve only to justify pressure on Iran. He called on friendly and neighboring countries to beware of US attempts to sow discord in the region for the benefit of Israel.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. He emphasized the necessity of regional cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to safeguard peace and stability across the region.
