Hassan Salarieh has announced that the first phase of the space center in Chabahar will come into operation in the new Persian year, which began on March 21.
The first test launches of satellite carriers will be soon conducted at the space center, he said, noting that the first phase of the center is designed to send launch vehicles with solid fuel into orbit.
Salarieh added that the initial studies on the development of the second phase of the center have been concluded and the contents of the contracts have been also finalized, saying the new phase will be allocated to the semi-heavy launch vehicles running on liquid fuel.
The Chabahar Space Center is designated as a non-military launch center, intended for live payload launches as well as the deployment of Earth observation and communication satellites into geosynchronous orbit. These operations necessitate specific conditions, ideally being close to the equatorial region, to minimize launch costs and orbital adjustments.
