Iran Ready to Dispatch Quake Relief Aid to Myanmar

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed the country’s readiness to send relief aid to quake-hit people in Myanmar.

In a telephone conversation with Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Than Swe on Wednesday, Araqchi expressed Iran’s sympathy with the Southeast Asian nation on a devastating earthquake that has killed over 3,000 people.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness to dispatch emergency relief aids to Myanmar.

The Myanmarese diplomat, for his part, appreciated Iran for expressing sympathy.

He also gave a report on the situation in the quake-hit regions and the items in demand.

The last Friday’s 7.7-magnitude quake, one of Myanmar’s strongest in a century, jolted a region home to 28 million, toppling buildings, flattening communities and leaving many without food, water and shelter.

Deaths rose to 3,003 on Wednesday, with 4,515 injured and 351 missing, while rescuers scramble to find more.
