Araqchi Advised by Leader Ahead of Muscat Talks: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has provided Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi with recommendations about the indirect talks with the US that are slated to take place in Oman on April 12, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

Araqchi, who has been given advice by the Leader, is going to hold indirect talks with the representative of the US in Oman on Saturday, Pezeshkian said in comments at an event marking the National Nuclear Technology Day on Wednesday.

He said while Iran’s stances on its nuclear program are clear, dialogue could be shaped about other issues on which interaction is possible.

Reiterating Iran’s opposition to the acquisition of nuclear bombs in conformity with an explicit order issued by Ayatollah Khamenei, the president said numerous verifications have proved Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

Iran is not after a war, but the more outsiders issue threats, the more resolutely the Islamic Republic will stand against them, Pezeshkian underlined.

The president noted that the Leader is not opposed to investment by an American individual in Iran, but what causes trouble is the US’ policies, plots and conspiracies to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

There is no place for American plots in Iran, although they are free to make investments, Pezeshkian said.

Araqchi announced on Tuesday that the only subject that will be mooted at the upcoming indirect negotiations with the US in Oman is the nuclear issue and assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.

The foreign minister had already confirmed to Tasnim that the upcoming talks in Muscat will be led by him and US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff.
