Israel Bombs Gaza City Neighborhood, Killing 35

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 35 Palestinians were killed and 55 wounded in a series of Israeli airstrikes that flattened residential buildings in Gaza City’s Shujayea neighborhood, with dozens still missing under the rubble, according to medical sources.

Multiple Israeli airstrikes targeted residential buildings in Gaza City’s Shujayea neighborhood, killing at least 35 Palestinians and injuring 55 others, medical sources told Al Jazeera.

Authorities say around 80 people remain unaccounted for beneath the rubble.

The strike destroyed a house on Baghdad Street in the eastern part of the neighborhood.

Earlier on the same day, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip killed five additional Palestinians, according to medical officials.

This brings the total number of Palestinian deaths from Israeli strikes on the Strip on Thursday to 45.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in northern Gaza, Hani Mahmoud, reported that at least two people were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a tent in Khan Younis.

A separate attack on a tent in al-Azahra, near the coastal road, killed at least one man.

In southern Rafah, Israeli forces continued demolishing homes, with only a few structures left standing.

“The demolition is taking place under heavy coverage of artillery and machineguns,” Mahmoud said.

Heavy artillery fire was also reported in northern and western Gaza, particularly in Beit Lahiya.

Another residential building in Gaza City’s Shujayea neighborhood was destroyed in a large air raid, though no casualties were reported in that incident.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 50,846 Palestinians have been confirmed killed and 115,729 injured since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

The Government Media Office in Gaza put the death toll even higher, at more than 61,700, saying thousands believed to be buried under rubble are presumed dead.
