Israeli Strikes Killed Only Women, Children in 36 Gaza Attacks: UN

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 36 Israeli airstrikes on Gaza between March 18 and April 9 killed exclusively women and children, according to a United Nations analysis cited by Palestinian rights group Al-Haq.

The findings, released by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, were described by Al-Haq as further evidence of a consistent and deliberate pattern.

“Israel is purposely targeting” women and children in Gaza, Al-Haq said.

The group stated that both it and the UN’s international commission of inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territory and East Jerusalem had come to the same conclusion.

“Such a calculated effort to exterminate women, boys, girls & even infants, has not been witnessed in any other modern conflict,” Al-Haq wrote in a social media post.

“While being targeted with heavy weaponry, they are forced to endure a total blockade on humanitarian aid – now for a 2nd month in a row,” the group added.

The analysis comes amid nearly a month of renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

More than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed since then, according to local health officials.

Israel has also blocked humanitarian aid from entering Gaza for over a month, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Humanitarian workers have been among the casualties.

Since October 7, 2023, more than 400 aid workers have been killed, including nearly 300 staff from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

Nearly 51,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. The military campaign has left the enclave in ruins and rendered it almost uninhabitable.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
