Arab States Embrace Iran-US Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates warmly welcomed the negotiations between Iran and the US, the first round of which was held in Muscat on April 12.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held separate telephone conversations with his Egyptian, Qatari, Kuwaiti and Emirati counterparts on Sunday to express Tehran’s views about the indirect talks with the US.
All four Arab ministers hailed Iran for opting for diplomacy, welcomed the Muscat talks, and expressed hope that the negotiations would yield positive results.
Delegations from Iran and the US held a round of indirect talks in Muscat on Saturday, mediated by the foreign minister of Oman.
The two sides, led by Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, have expressed satisfaction with the initial steps.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19.
