Talks on Iran’s Military Power Out of Question: IRGC Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s military and defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiations, the spokesperson for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) underscored.

In comments on the first anniversary of the True Promise operation that Iran carried out against the Israeli regime in April 2024, General Ali Mohammad Naeini hailed the operations True Promise I and II as a clear manifestation of the Iranian armed forces’ serious resolve to protect the national interests and safeguard the Islamic Revolution.

Describing national security and military power as the Islamic Republic of Iran’s red lines, the IRGC spokesman said under no circumstances will those issues be subject to negotiations.

His comments came a few days after Iran and the US held a round of indirect talks in Oman.

The two sides, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, have expressed satisfaction with the initial steps.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19.

The Iranian diplomats maintain that the only subject mooted at the negotiations with the US was the nuclear issue and assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
