US Should Quit Pressuring Iran: China’s Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Chinese ambassador to Tehran stressed the need for the US to stop using force and maximum pressures against Iran.
Speaking at a press conference at the Embassy of China in Tehran on Tuesday, Cong Peiwu said his country maintains that the disputes over Iran’s nuclear program need to be settled through political and diplomatic manners.
Pointing to the “great opportunity” for a solution via dialogue following the recent negotiations between Iran and the US in Oman, the Chinese ambassador said the parties should strengthen their contacts.
The US, which unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), must prove its political goodwill in the talks and stop using force and maximum pressure against Iran, the envoy added.
Reaffirming China’s support for the political settlement of the issues and its backing for the nuclear non-proliferation efforts, Peiwu said China has always opposed unilateral sanctions.
The US must stop disrupting or obstructing cooperation between China and Iran, the ambassador stated.
He stressed that China will continue its unshakable friendly cooperation with Iran regardless of the international developments.
China stands firmly to hold back the powers and takes the necessary measures against the US’ bullying actions, the ambassador underlined.
China and Iran support strengthened global economy and free trade, Peiwu stated, noting that China counters the US’ hegemony and is eager to take joint measures with Iran against the US’ bullying moves.
