IAEA Needs to Stay Away from Politics: Araqchi
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – It is imperative for the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency to keep his organization away from politicization, the foreign minister of Iran said.
In a post on his X account on Thursday, Abbas Araqchi said he held fruitful talks with Director General of the IAEA Rafael Grossi in Tehran on April 16.
“Had useful discussion with visiting IAEA chief Grossi. In the coming months, the Agency can play a crucial role in peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear file,” he said.
“As variety of spoilers are gathered to derail current negotiations, we need a Director General of Peace,” Araqchi added.
“Our predisposition is to trust Grossi in mission to keep the Agency away from politics and politicization, and to retain focus on its technical mandate,” the Iranian foreign minister said.
