Heading a diplomatic delegation, Araqchi left Tehran for Moscow on Thursday morning to hold consultations with senior Russian officials and deliver a written message from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said.

The visit, at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, is made as part of the constant consultations between Iran and Russia as two strategic partners, Esmaeil Baqaei noted.

During his stay in Moscow, Araqchi is going to hold talks on the bilateral relations, the regional and international developments, and the recent indirect talks between Iran and the US, the spokesman added.

He described the trip as a good opportunity to assess the implementation of the bilateral agreements, specifically the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which was signed by the presidents of the two countries on January 17.
