Iran’s Pezeshkian Hails Army as Guardian of Regional Peace, National Security

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the Iranian Army’s role in ensuring national security and stability, calling it a key force for safeguarding peace and a cornerstone of the country's influence during negotiations with global powers at the Army Day parade.

President Pezeshkian said on Friday that the Iranian Army acts as a stronghold for the government and the people, emphasizing that peace and security in society are ensured through the presence of military forces.

“The Army is a symbol of national dignity, a pillar of authority, and the main guarantor of peace and security in the country,” Pezeshkian stated at the Army Day parade held near the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini.

Highlighting the crucial role of the armed forces in maintaining national stability, he said, “Without this valuable power, our society would be deprived of security and calm.”

He noted that the presence of the Army and military forces has enabled the Islamic Republic of Iran to maintain internal stability and regional prestige.

“With our armed forces, we are able to speak with strength in the region, advocating peace, calm, and constructive dialogue,” the president added.

He continued, “Thanks to the Army and our security and defense forces, we have introduced ourselves as an undeniable power.”

Pezeshkian stressed that, unlike some other state institutions, the Army has remained structurally intact over the years, describing it as a unique and orderly model within the country.

He attributed this stability to the leadership and guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

“At the beginning of the Revolution, our enemies sought to dismantle and weaken the Army in order to implement their plots,” Pezeshkian said.

“But with the Leader’s support and the Army’s resistance, it stood firm and played a decisive role during the Sacred Defense.”

He emphasized that if the Army had not been present, “the enemy would have conquered the country and destroyed the Revolution.”

“The enemy has never been able—and still cannot—penetrate into the Army,” he asserted.

The president reflected on the post-revolution era, recalling the military’s complete dependency on foreign sources for equipment.

“At that time, we even relied on outsiders for the most basic defensive needs, with no independent capability to produce or supply equipment,” he noted.

“Today, our powerful Army has made great strides in producing and equipping all the tools the country requires,” he said.

“Our Armed Forces have gained dominance in air, land, sea, drones, and technologies that the enemy never imagined we could master.”

Pezeshkian reiterated that the Army plays a vital role in every national emergency, not just military defense.

“In natural and social crises—from earthquakes and floods to storms and epidemics—the Army has always stood by the people,” he said.

He called the Army an unparalleled ally of the government and the nation, emphasizing that its presence provides a solid foundation for the country and a reliable source of support for the Iranian people.

The president hailed the armed forces’ pursuit of self-sufficiency as a national pride.

“This self-reliance extends beyond military structure,” he said, adding, “And today, that knowledge and technology have reached our industries, businesses, and universities, fueling sustainable development and comprehensive progress.”

Pezeshkian praised the Army’s brave commanders and selfless troops, calling them a symbol of resilience and loyalty.

He highlighted the Army’s deterrent role in preventing enemy threats, stating, “This very spirit discourages the enemy from executing any plans against the nation or weakening our national authority.”

In closing, Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to all branches of the military—including the Navy, Ground Forces, Air Force, as well as the IRGC, and Basij (Volunteers), saying, “The security and honor of today’s Islamic Iran are owed to the dedication and sacrifice of these courageous defenders—past, present, and future.”
