Iran Security Forces Foil Terror Plot, Seize Arms in Two Provinces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian security forces killed a senior Jaish al-Zolm commander involved in last year’s terrorist attacks and dismantled a weapons smuggling network in two separate operations in Sistan and Balouchestan and Gilan provinces.

In the continuation of the “Martyrs of Security” operational drills, Iranian forces neutralized a key operational commander of the Jaish al-Zolm terrorist group.

The operation took place at dawn on Friday in the Korin district of Zahedan, Sistan and Balouchestan province.

The operation was conducted by fighters from the Quds Headquarters with support from the General Directorate of Intelligence, the Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA), local residents, and regional elders.

During the raid, several local outlaws were detained.

Vali Mohammad Shahbakhsh, a senior field commander of Jaish al-Zolm who played a central role in last year's terrorist incidents, was killed.

Security forces also seized several weapons and a quantity of ammunition during the operation.

One Basij volunteer fighter, Es’haq Mokhtari, a member of the Quds Headquarters’ security unit, was martyred in the clash.

In a separate incident, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization in Gilan province successfully dismantled an organized arms smuggling ring.

According to local sources in Rasht, IRGC intelligence agents identified and struck the network in a complex intelligence and operational mission.

The group was attempting to transfer firearms from western provinces to Gilan for anti-security purposes.

Following comprehensive surveillance and coordination with the judiciary, the smuggling network was targeted and dismantled by provincial IRGC units.

A significant cache of weapons and military-grade ammunition was seized in the operation, and several suspects were arrested.
