Two Palestinian Teenagers Killed as Israeli Forces Widen Raids Across West Bank
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinian teenagers during a raid in the occupied West Bank late Thursday, according to Palestinian officials, amid a continuing surge in violence across the territory.
Israeli troops entered the town of Osarin, about 16 kilometers southeast of Nablus, late on Thursday, prompting clashes with local residents, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Citing the Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs, WAFA reported that two Palestinian teenagers were fatally shot during the operation.
The victims were identified as 17-year-old Jihad Adham Edeili and 19-year-old Saif Ghassan Edeili. Local sources said the two were killed when Israeli forces fired live rounds during the raid.
The Israeli military said its soldiers opened fire at three Palestinians who “hurled rocks towards vehicles on the highway” in the area.
The army did not comment directly on the reported fatalities.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that a 20-year-old Palestinian man was also wounded by gunfire and treated at the scene.
"The young man sustained a gunshot wound to the knee," said Amid Ahmad, Director of the Emergency and Ambulance Center in Nablus.
Israeli forces reportedly withheld the bodies of the two teenagers after the incident.
Violence has surged across the West Bank since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October 2023. According to Palestinian authorities, more than 950 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank since then, with over 7,000 others injured.
In July, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal under international law.
The court called for the withdrawal of Israeli settlements from the West Bank and East Al-Quds.
