Iran Reaffirms Commitment to Diplomacy Ahead of New Round of US Talks

“Today, in the historic city of Rome, the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States will be held, mediated by the Foreign Minister of Oman,” Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on his X account on Saturday morning.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always demonstrated, with good faith and a sense of responsibility, its commitment to diplomacy as a civilized way to resolve issues, in full respect of the high interests of the Iranian nation,” he stated.

“We are aware that it is not a smooth path but we take every step with open eyes, relying also on the past experiences,” Baqaei noted.

Delegations from Iran and the US held a round of indirect talks in Muscat on April 12, mediated by the foreign minister of Oman.

The two sides, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Witkoff, have expressed satisfaction with the initial steps.

The new round of negotiations will be held at the Embassy of Oman in Rome on Saturday.
